APT’s Anahita collection emerges from the discovery of painter Rudolph Stingel’s extravagant Venice Biennale installment, a carpeted Palazzo Grassi, featured over 50,000 sq ft of upholstered floor-to-ceiling red Ottoman carpet. This collection pays homage to the ancient craft of Eastern textile artistry and its influence on 1970’s fashion. Designs in rich jewel tones play with traditional Persian motifs of Paisley and Hatchili, while patchwork leather, dramatic fringe & bold stripes celebrate the 70’s boho revival of these coveted prints. The wearer is taken on a spiritual journey following the trail of the ancient Silk Roads, exploring the Eastern skies on a magic carpet fit for an empress.
The FW16 Collection was brought to life by the hands of artisans across three countries, and introduces APT’s first season of cozy knit cardigans and dramatic alpaca fur hats. APT’s signature handwoven blanket scarves & fur hats are all handmade across Peru. The fur hats are handcrafted in Cusco, Peru using baby alpaca fur that is only obtained by natural death of these species. Artisans in India hand cut screens of APT's complex patterns and print them on soft and luxurious handwoven scarves.
APT sees itself as champions for slow fashion, fair trade and preservationists of centuries-old techniques. They invite you to travel through their products, discover the unexpected, learn about different techniques and cultures and share that story with others.
