These pillows are hand-woven and embroidered by Berber women in the village of Meryrte, in the Mid-Atlas mountains. Traditionally made as part of a wedding dowry along with wedding blankets, the women gather in groups prior to the big event to weave and embroider blankets and pillows as a chance to impart advice to the bride to be. The sequins are thought to bring good luck while symbols in the embroidery ward off the evil eye. Like jewelry for the home, these pillows are an easy way to mix texture and charm into any decor. Each pillow is one of a kind and reflects the creativity of the artisan. Embroidery design and exact size may vary from pillow to pillow.
